Hosted By the Motor Yacht Club of Tasmania and the Lindisfarne Sailing Club
Congratulations to Stuart Geeves and Kaye Roberts, the skippers of Footloose, and their crew who won this year’s popular Andrew Walter Constructions MYCT Twilight Pennant, run in conjunction with the Lindisfarne Sailing Club. Footloose finished with a series score of 13 with two firsts, two seconds, a third and a fourth. They finished just ahead of the always cheerful Greg Koennecke on Annodyne (17) and Nigel Gray on Bahloo (20). We had a fantastic twilight series this year, with 22 yachts taking part in racing and we were blessed with good steady breezes.. My big thanks to Steve Johns and Janine Crook from the LSC. Janine swiftly processed the results so they could be announced as soon as crews returned the Club for a well-earned beer. Steve was a great help in setting the course. My thanks also to other stirling volunteer, MYCT’s Annie Didham who crewed the start boat the Drifter. Of course the biggest thankyou of all goes to Andrew and Marg Walter who once again sponsored the event. Entries fees went to the LSC to help train young sailors while Andrew Walter Constructions provided the series prize money. Stuart was presented with his pennant at the prize giving at the Club on Friday March 19. Two special awards were also made (judged by the race committee). Most improved sailors were new to keel boats Tony Palmer and Michelle Garland on Madam while Greg Koennecke on Annodyne proved you don’t need a big boat to be successful. He got the prize for being the most competitive. Keith Didham, acting Principal race Officer
